Venue: Newbridge

Shiven Rovers Vs Roscommon Town

Final Score: 2 - 3

Roscommon Town stepped into this pre-season game on the back of a good performance against Rahara Rovers on the previous sunday. Town gaffer Pat Mullen was looking for a good team performance to try to iron out the mistakes that nearly cost the game against rahara. The Town started well playing into a strong breeze and settled very well. Passing moves were working well for the town and it wasn't long before the left hand side of Shiven's team was exposed by the pace of Johnny O'Beirne but the town couldn't take advantage of the early exchanges. Shiven began to settle and start passing the ball around midfield but the town defence sniffed up every attack they had. A ball was played over the top and Karl Sedlak stood his ground with the shiven player falling to the ground and a penalty was harshly given. In goals Dwain McGuinness pulled off a good stop to deny Shiven a goal that would have been a harsh lead. The town conceded a late own goal and half time score Shiven 1 Ros Town 0

The second half started with Roscommon Town trying to get an equaliser and playing with a very strong wind behind them they went on attack straight away. It wasnt before they had got one back. Colm Noone played a ball through to Paul Allen and he didn't let anyone down and slotted it past the keeper. At this stage the Town had all the possesion and Shiven were finding it hard to get out of there own half. Then Johnny fla played a lovely ball through to Allen again and he squeezed it past the keeper to make it 2 -1 to the Town. Shiven started to play themselves back into the game and were on the attack when Niall Gordon was very harshly judged to have brought down the Shiven attacker so result was penalty. Willie Walsh saved the penalty but the rebound was bundled over the line. Willie was then called upon to make a fantastic double save. Then moments later Paul Allen rounded off his 20 minute hat-trick after Liam Mulhern found him in space.
